ConVo

So, long long long long story short. T, 1 & 2 and i had a room for ConVo this past weekend. Sacred sister-wife N was there, L couldn't make it. N and i did the best we could to have a GREAT time in her honor... Ok, we just had a great time!

We drummed and crafted and chatted and laughed and ate and sang and laughed some more the whole time. Kids included. (T was - flexible)

SIGH! i needed that! :-D

Shabbat

Not that we're great believers in organised religion - i'm laughing as i write that - but this morning will find me and 1 & 2 at Shabbat Shira/the sabbath of song, where a special melody will be chanted by a favourite teacher of ours, AT.

AT is a stunning chanter, really. She posesses one of those effortless, crystalline, nightingale-light soprano voices that i'd always wanted to have... and to boot - she's a wonderful person too. Actually i've known her since college, though we had to be reintroduced several years back because we didn't recognize each other!! Hey life happens. i'd been gone 10 years. She'd changed her looks, was now called by her full first name, changed her last name (got married), and changed her religion! LoL

Anyways, because it is a special sabbath and AT is reading and gathering the ritual crew, AT wanted her students to help lead the ritual (a typically sweet-of-her thought). She asked #1 if she would sing a prayer and #2 to carry the Torah. Who could resist an invitation like that, especially from her?!

So - - - Off we go like a herd of turtles! #1 in her immobilizer brace, and #2 (in brand new clothes bought last night because he's grown so much it was comical watching him try stuff on!) being his typical monosyllabic self. This should be pretty cool. :)

So i get this call

... at 8am this morning.

T says "are you sitting down? "No, no one's gone postal at school. No, i don't think you need to run to the emergency room...."

Seems #1's knee cap decided to take the circuitous route while she was bending to tie her shoe - and it ended up way east of where it should have been as she went sliding to the floor! They wheelchaired her to the office (posse [of boys] in tow) where her counselor - giving new meaning to being a "whiter shade of pale" - notified her father whom, after seeing her, was now calling me. By now... i was sitting down.

me? i called the doctor to get a referral to an orthopedic surgeon, whom we saw this very afternoon. End result... that's one messed-up knee cap.

#1 spent the evening being fitted for an immobilizer brace which she is to wear 24/7 for the next two weeks in addition to three visits a week to the physical therapist. There will be a re-eval then and - we'll see what we see. Until then she's an unhappy and uncomfortable babe who is getting a LOT of attention.

Now i have to figure out how i'm going to fit 3 two-hour sessions of PT a week into the family schedule!!

Exhausted and signing off.
