rant

I realize I don't write here very often lately but I do need a safe place to put these particular thoughts instead of starting a "flame war" on a list I generally love, so yeah - here it is...

An AF parent wrote this:

"One really nice thing is we got to pray (for our troops) on the Capitol Steps. Harrisburg is the capital of PA. State property/Prayer....I like it!"

I mean c'mon, really? You LIKE that the line between your religion of choice and your state government has been purposely blurred by you and a few thousand others in this "rally for troops"?! I abhorr the idea and I'm appalled that someone I "know" would flaunt that they "liked it".

As much as I will support our military and a cessation of unneccessary war, I will NOT support bringing church and state anywhere near each other for any reason; even one as noble as troop support.

You want to pray for our troops? You want to pray for our leaders and advisors? Great. Do it at your chosen place of worship or at home, or in your car or under a tree, or anywhere else that is not federal, state or local government property.

Later in this person's post they bemoan the fact that there was no media present at this rally. Now THERE'S something for which I am quite grateful.

Heh, I might even thank the Gods for it... here, at home. ;)

Yeah... it's always sketchy when people 'see how close they can get' and then gloat that they crossed the line and didn't get caught or whatever. The line is there for a reason and we're ALL better off because of it.
